Farr West, Utah Schools: A Parent's Guide for Homebuyers

For many parents, choosing a home also means thinking about schools, the drive to school, and the daily routine a new neighborhood will create.

Farr West is part of Weber School District. Farr West Elementary, Silver Ridge Elementary and Wahlquist Junior High are all inside the city, and Wahlquist's ninth graders move on to Fremont High School in Plain City. Which school a child attends depends on the home's exact address and the current school boundaries.

As a Realtor serving Farr West, I help families research local schools, verify school boundaries, and find homes that match their priorities, lifestyle and budget.

How Grades Are Split in Weber School District

If you're moving from another state or relocating with the military, the grade setup may be different from what you're used to. Elementary school is kindergarten through 6th grade, junior high is 7th through 9th grade, and high school is 10th through 12th grade.

One tip: Farr West addresses often say "Ogden" in the mailing address. Farr West Elementary's address says Ogden, but the school is inside Farr West. Seeing "Ogden" on an address doesn't mean it's outside Farr West.

Frequently Asked Questions About Farr West Schools

Which school will my child attend?

Assignments are set by the property address and Weber School District's attendance boundaries. Farr West has two elementary schools, so verify the exact address with the district rather than relying on an older listing or online map. Parents can check the Weber School District Boundary Maps page or call the district at 801-476-7800.

Which Farr West school is the best?

No single school is the best fit for every child. Parents weigh different things, such as programs, special-education services, activities, transportation, distance from home and their child's individual needs. Official school information is available on the Utah School Report Card, and visiting the school and talking with staff and other parents helps too.

Can my child attend a school outside our assigned boundary?

Possibly. Weber School District may approve boundary exceptions depending on school capacity and current district policy. Approval is not guaranteed, and parents may be responsible for transportation.

Can school boundaries change?

Yes. Districts adjust boundaries as neighborhoods grow and schools fill up. With new homes still being built in Farr West, ask the district whether any proposed changes could affect the neighborhood you're considering.
