Plain City sits on the open west side of Weber County, with Farr West to the east and Marriott-Slaterville to the south. Settled in 1859 by a group led by Lorin Farr and incorporated in 1944, it has kept its farm-town roots while growing fast: the population rose from about 7,800 in 2020 to more than 9,200 by 2025, and about 96 percent of homes are owner-occupied. Fremont High School sits right in town, and schools serving Plain City include Plain City, Silver Ridge and Farr West elementaries and Wahlquist Junior High; confirm a home's assigned schools with Weber School District. Each summer the city's Fourth of July Celebration brings a parade, a junior rodeo and a day of events centered on Town Square, capped by fireworks. State Route 134 (2600 North) heads east through Farr West to I-15, and commutes average about 23 minutes. Much of today's new construction is at JDC Ranch, where the Grove, Orchards and Creekside neighborhoods are adding new single-family homes, alongside Diamond E and established areas like Fremont Estates.
